The Sussex Showcase of the Senses

Every third Monday in the month, Storrington’s historic White Horse Hotel stops serving its superb Sardinian cuisine and turns the pub over to a Sussex showcase of local food, drink and the arts for one evening only.

Leon, landlord at the White Horse in Storrington has curated and will compere this exciting Monday night which takes place in the hotel’s newly renovated function rooms.  Leon and Bobbie the Chef will be on hand to welcome you to the first Showcase of Sussex on Monday Sept 20th from 6.30pm.  Local author Kevin Newman will be presenting an interactive talk on his latest book about the history of Sussex food and drink: Pond Puddings and Sussex Smokies.  Those attending can also enjoy a lively Sussex food and drink quiz, Auntie Val’s jams will be available to taste and buy and they can experience and purchase the work of Storrington artist Gabi Carr (Instagram:#gabicarr_art_) as well as Storrington’s wonderful Village Deli.  We are in talks with a local Sussex brewery to provide tasters/sell/talk about their beer for the evening.

The White Horse really seems to be taking off as a hive of cultural, foodie and event activity– having not just been on but won TV’s 4 in a Bed but being due to be on Gogglebox soon! We hope that the Sussex Showcase will become a regular feature on peoples’ social calendars and continue to showcase the best that Sussex has to offer for the senses, as in future months we widen our horizons to also offer Sussex poetry, music, wine and storytelling.  Join us on the 20th and be able to say you were there at the start of a sense-sational new Sussex event!
