The South Wing, Holmbush House, Faygate

KNP was first encouraged to draw and paint by her mother, Nowell Hewlett Johnson, a Royal College of Art prize winner who had painted several of the famous railway posters of the 20s and 30s.

However, Kezia early decided on a career in medicine, becoming a well-known Horsham GP which left little time for painting, but family holidays in North Wales and the Scilly Isles inspired much artistic work and she was able to have two exhibitions in the foyer of the Christ’s Hospital Theatre and twice had paintings exhibited in the Mall Galleries in London.

Retirement transformed her into a full-time artist, studying with Margaret Merritt and Valerie Wiffen at West Dean College and with Piers Ottey at the Mill Studio, Arundel, and exhibiting work in galleries, pop-ups and art fairs in Horsham, including a solo exhibition at the Capitol Theatre. Most recently she has shown her work on the Horsham Artist’s Art Trails and Fairs and exhibited with the Association of Sussex Artists.

She now lives in the South Wing of Holmbush House and it is there, during the coming Horsham Artists Art Trail, that she is going to exhibit her work in the hall of her beautiful home, giving her the space to show a much wider selection of her latest paintings.

Rich in colour and atmosphere, in many cases concentrating her feeling for nature into small vibrant canvases, Kezia’s paintings show an exceptional understanding of sea and countryside.

Come and join Kezia and Duncan for refreshments on the terrace of their beautiful home where, for the first time, her pictures will be exhibited.
