HOUSEBUILDER CROWNS CELEBRATIONS FOR KING’S CORONATION IN CANTERBURY

Local housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes kickstarted celebrations in Canterbury for the King’s Coronation last weekend, having sponsored The FRIENDly Coronation Prom at Canterbury Cathedral on Friday 5th May 2023. The housebuilder, who is behind the Saxon Fields development in Thanington and The Woodlands in Broad Oak, donated £2000 to The Friends of Canterbury Cathedral to cover the costs of a special live performance by The Central Band of the Royal British Legion.

Hosted at Canterbury Cathedral, the local community gathered to enjoy a weekend of celebrations for the King’s Coronation. Visitors were treated to live entertainment and music from David Cole, Nikki Bentley and The Central Band of the Royal British Legion, and a host of other singers from the Cathedral keeping them thoroughly entertained all evening. The £2000 donation from Barratt David Wilson Kent contributed towards the costs of facilitating the evening, ensuring that all funds raised go toward The Friends of Canterbury Cathedral Charity.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt David Wilson Kent, added: “It was so wonderful to see the community come together at the long-awaited The FRIENDly Coronation Prom for the King’s Coronation celebrations. It is so important that our local communities can enjoy milestone moments such as this, and that we are able to make sure the facilities are in place to make it memorable. We are proud to have worked with The Friends of Canterbury Cathedral Charity to offer our support for the event – we hope that everyone who came to the proms enjoyed the music!”

Caroline Plaisted at The Friends of Canterbury Cathedral Charity, commented: “It has been great to have hosted our proms for the first time to celebrate the King’s Coronation. The crowds were plentiful on the night, everyone had a smile on their face and enjoyed the music. Our events here at Canterbury Cathedral are a testament to the community spirit here, and this one will go down in the history books. We are incredibly grateful to Barratt David Wilson Kent for its kind sponsorship, which helped support our efforts and costs in bringing the best live music to the event.”
