Wokingham May Fayre receives sponsorship fit for a king

In celebration of King Charles’ Coronation on Saturday 6th May, David Wilson Homes, who is building its Ashridge Grange development on Warren House Road, has supported the Wokingham Lions Club’s Coronation-themed May Fayre, which was held in the town centre on Monday 1st May.

Back for its 27th year, the annual May Fayre was open to all Wokingham residents free of charge, with over 100 Royal-themed stalls including charities, crafters and food vendors as well as a funfair, children’s rides and stage performances from GLEE Club UK, the local Jazz Band and East Berkshire Operatic Society. The housebuilder’s £250 donation helped fund the prizes for the best-dressed stalls and entertainment acts, in line with the Royal theme.

Kimberley Benson, Sales and Marketing Director of David Wilson Homes, commented: “We are so pleased to hear that Wokingham Lion’s May Fayre was a great success, with so many of our new residents able to celebrate alongside the wider community here in the town. It is wonderful to see how the celebrations have already brought communities together and we hope everyone enjoyed the upcoming Coronation weekend, celebrating with friends and family.”

Andy Goffin, Fundraising Chair at the Wokingham Lions Club, added: “The King’s Coronation has fallen at a great time of the year, coinciding with our annual May Fayre so it was natural to theme our event to reflect the celebrations next weekend. It was a great day of family entertainment all in aid of local causes and brought everyone in the town together to celebrate. David Wilson Southern Counties’ donation allowed us to boost our prize funding for our stalls and entertainment so we could put on the best event possible.”
