Looking Forward with the Grants Process

Burgess Hill Town Council is launching a new online form to improve the Grants Application process for
local groups. The form has been designed to enable groups to understand the application process in a
user friendly and modern paper-free format. We hope this new process will encourage more groups to
apply, benefitting the Burgess Hill Community as a whole.
The Grants Panel met on Monday 11 October and awarded Minor Grant funds to 3 local groups – Hurst
Hedgehog Haven, Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (SASBAH), and the Burgess
Hill Heritage and History Association. A Major Grant was also approved in principle to the Burgess Hill
Shed.
Chair of the Grants Panel, Councillor Simon Hicks, said:
‘The Town Council wants to encourage and support organisations who are working to help Burgess Hill
residents, and this updated form makes the process of applying for grants much easier. The grant
requirements have also been reviewed, and I would particularly encourage Burgess Hill based charities
and voluntary organisations to apply for funding where they have identified a specific one-off need to
support a project. We would welcome new applications particularly from organisations or groups who have
not previous received funding from Burgess Hill Town Council.’
Groups can apply now for the next round of Minor Grants of up to £1000, available for running costs and
capital expenditure. The deadline for Minor Grants is 30 April 2022. Major Grants of £1000+ are also
available for capital costs only, and the deadline is 30 September 2022. The Town Council will
encourage the completion of Grant forms online, however we will continue to provide a paper
version via the Help Point if requested.
